At Voice of Mama, we believe that the sound of a parent's or grandparent's voice is one of the most comforting gifts a child can receive. Our app creates personalised bedtime stories narrated in a cloned voice of a parent, grandparent, or caretaker — helping little ones drift off to sleep feeling safe and loved.
Because this involves personal audio data — and, for the children whose stories we personalise, information about a minor — we take privacy extremely seriously. This Privacy Policy explains clearly and honestly how we collect, use, protect, and manage your information, and how we comply with the laws that protect children's data.
Voice of Mama is operated by Voice of Mama LLC, registered in Texas, USA. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at: care@voiceofmama.com
Account Information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a password (stored securely via Supabase Authentication). This is used solely to create and manage your account. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
Voice Recordings
The core of our service relies on short audio recordings of the parent, grandparent, or caretaker whose voice you wish to clone. These recordings are:
Children's Data
To personalise bedtime stories for your child, we ask the adult account holder for the child's first name and age. This information is:
See Section 5 for the specific protections that apply to this data.
Payment and Subscription Data
Subscriptions are managed through RevenueCat, which receives subscription status and entitlement information (such as which plan you're on and renewal dates) to keep your subscription active across devices. Payment card details are handled directly by Apple's In-App Purchase system — we do not receive or store your card number.
Usage Data
We use Mixpanel to collect anonymised, aggregated data about how the app is used (such as which features are accessed most) and Sentry to collect crash and error diagnostics, so we can improve reliability and the user experience. This data is not used for advertising, is not shared with any advertising network, and cannot reasonably be used to identify you or your child personally.
Website Analytics
Our website, voiceofmama.com, uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site (such as which pages are viewed, how visitors arrived, general device and browser type, and approximate location at the city or country level). Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. We use it only to improve the website, not for advertising, and Google Analytics is not used inside the Voice of Mama app. You can opt out by using your browser's cookie settings or the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Your information is used exclusively to:
We do not use your data, your voice recordings, or your child's information for any purpose outside of the above without your clear, separate consent. We do not use any of this data for third-party advertising, cross-context behavioral advertising, or to build a profile about you or your child.
Voice cloning is the heart of Voice of Mama, and a cloned voice is biometric data — a "voiceprint" that can identify a specific person. Biometric identifiers receive special protection under laws including the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (which classifies biometric information as "sensitive personal information"), the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, and the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act. We take the following steps because of that:
Please do not submit recordings of anyone who has not given their informed consent to have their voice cloned.
Voice of Mama is designed to be used by adults on behalf of their children. We are not directed to children as their own independent users, and children do not create or operate accounts. That said, because we collect a child's first name and age from the parent or caretaker in order to personalise stories, we treat that information as protected under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the US (which applies to information collected about a child under 13) and, where applicable, the UK/EU GDPR's protections for children under 16.
To meet those obligations:
If you have questions about our children's privacy practices, contact us at care@voiceofmama.com.
To deliver Voice of Mama, we work with a small number of trusted technology partners. Each partner is bound by a data processing agreement requiring them to protect your data to a standard consistent with this policy, and each may use the data we share only to provide services to us — never for their own advertising or marketing purposes.
Supabase
Manages secure user authentication, including your login credentials and session management.
Neon
Manages our backend database infrastructure and securely stores your account data, child profile data, and voice content metadata, with encryption at rest and in transit on Neon's serverless PostgreSQL platform.
Cloudflare
Provides secure cloud storage for media files, including voice recordings prior to processing, with industry-standard security measures.
Fish Audio
Processes voice recordings solely to generate your personalised voice model. Fish Audio does not receive your child's name, age, or any other account information.
RevenueCat
Manages subscription status and entitlements across devices. RevenueCat does not receive your payment card details.
Mixpanel
Collects anonymised, aggregated app-usage data (such as which features are used most) to help us improve the app.
Sentry
Collects crash and error diagnostics to help us find and fix bugs.
Google Analytics
Measures visits to our website (not the app) so we can understand which pages are helpful and how visitors find us.
We will notify you promptly if we change any of our key technology partners in a way that affects how your personal data is processed.
Your data is stored and processed in the United States. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data-transfer restrictions, we rely on appropriate safeguards for transferring your data to the US — such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum, or an equivalent mechanism recognized under applicable law — and we require our service providers to maintain protections consistent with those safeguards.
We apply the following security measures:
While we take every reasonable step to protect your data, no system is completely immune to risk. We will notify you without undue delay in the event of a data breach that may affect your personal information, and as required by applicable law.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service:
You may request deletion of specific data at any time without closing your account — see Section 10 for your rights.
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, we process your data based on: your consent (for voice recordings, child profile data, and optional marketing), the necessity of processing to perform our contract with you (account management, service delivery), our legitimate interests (service improvement, security), and compliance with legal obligations. You have the right to:
Under the CCPA/CPRA (California residents), you have the right to know, access, correct, and delete your personal information, and the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information (which includes voice/biometric data). We do not sell or share personal information, including biometric data or children's information, for cross-context behavioral advertising or any other form of monetary or other valuable consideration, so there is no "opt-out of sale" action needed — there is nothing being sold.
Under state biometric privacy laws (such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act and the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act), you have the right to know that a voiceprint is being collected, the purpose and retention schedule for that data (Sections 4 and 9), and to have it destroyed as described above.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at care@voiceofmama.com. We will respond within 30 days.
We will only send you marketing emails or newsletters if you have explicitly opted in to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us directly. Opting out of marketing will never affect your access to the Voice of Mama service. We never send marketing communications to or about your child, and your child's information is never used for marketing purposes.
You do not need a social-media account to use Voice of Mama. You can delete your account at any time directly within the app (Profile → Account Settings → Delete Account), which permanently removes your account, your child's profile data, your voice recordings, and your voice models within 30 days as described in Section 9. You can also request deletion by emailing care@voiceofmama.com.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our service evolves or in response to changes in law. When we make significant changes — including any change that affects how we handle children's information — we will notify you by email and/or by a prominent notice within the app before the change takes effect. The updated policy will always be available at www.voiceofmama.com/privacy.
Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
